Life in Paris: Fantastique!

Paris ranks first worldwide for quality of life according to a 2007 survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers, starting with a unique offering of art and culture. Major events take place all year long:

La Nuit Blanche, Paris Plage, La Fête de la Musique, Paris Quartiers d’Eté, le Festival d’Automne, FIAC, Art Paris, Rock en Seine, Festival Jazz à la Villette, Les Solidays and more — from a single night to a month-long celebration, some 350 festivals make life in Paris special. There’s always something going on.

Likewise, daily life in Paris benefits from neighborhood events and festivals, an extensive network of conservatories, municipal libraries and media resource centers, plus local activity centers for young and old.

Exceptional resources foster quality of life for all

Associations and citizens’ groups are lively and engaged, with 121 neighborhood councils, youth groups and associations for residents from outside the European Union.

Retailers add to the mix: Paris has the world’s highest density of neighborhood shops and businesses — with a particular focus on fine foods, including a lively restaurant scene.

The city combines modern architecture with a wealth of historical sites. Paris is a moving feast that treasures its past while investing in today and tomorrow. Outstanding cultural facilities include:

  • 130 theaters with an average 300 shows a week
  • 56 museums
  • 2 opera houses and new world-scale resources including the Gaïté Lyrique,  La Cité de la Mode et du Design.
